The Mayan Pyramid of Placencia, Belize: one-of-a-kind, architectural masterpiece.

Foremost, location, location, location: the Pyramid has become a landmark on the quickly developing peninsula. It is an impressive structure on the main road, centered between the ocean and lagoon. This provides for a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea, the Mayan Mountains and the lagoon from the rooftop terrace. It is less than a quarter mile south of Coppola’s Turtle Inn, just south of the airstrip as well as north of the village, and includes Caribbean beach access. Built to honor the heritage of the Mayans indigenous to the area, it was constructed with modern building techniques as well as the Mayan hand, reflecting the architecture of the Mayan temples. The finish materials are also local from hard-as-steel, dramatically grained cabbage bark and mahogany from the Belizean forests for the trim and doors to the aquamarine slate ascending the sides of the Pyramid and stairways.

Coconut trees, dwarf royal palms, a banana and pine tree highlight the tropical gardens on this 70 by 90 foot lot, completely surrounded by a fence of hand-laid stones. The Pyramid greets its guests with brilliant chinoisserie-style lacquered double front doors perched atop an aquamarine slate stairway.

The Pyramid is comprised of two floors totaling 2400 square feet plus a rooftop terrace. The dramatic main floor is divided into two levels. The foyer, dining room, kitchen and full bath/laundry room have black slate floors and 12 foot ceilings. The large kitchen has a hand-poured concrete and hardwood counter and appliances. The lower level features a living room with built-ins and in indoor pool/fountain, with 16 foot ceilings.

On the second floor is a master bedroom with a fantastic master bath with marble mosaic vanity, travertine sink, aquamarine slate open shower, shell marble floor, Jacuzzi, bidet and two large windows with breathtaking views. There is a large second bedroom with a beautiful guest bathroom with a granite sink, bidet and stone shower. The entire second floor has 10 foot ceilings. Stately slate stairs lead to the large rooftop terrace with magnificent 360 degree views of the Caribbean Sea, Mayan Mountains and the lagoon. The Pyramid has an independent septic system, 500 gallon water tank and water pressure pump.

The Pyramid is very strong structure. It is comprised of a steel and concrete “cage” with a floating 5 foot wide foundation and double thickness walls. The foundation, floors, walls, support columns and cross beams are all reinforced with 5/8″ to 1/2″ rebar intertwined and set in concrete.

The adjacent, vacant 70 by 90 foot lot is also available.

Your own Mayan Pyramid awaits you!
